It would seem that most Americans and our politicians on both sides of the aisle (or in the middle) agree that Ronald Reagan was one of our finest presidents. I think this quote is certainly one of his best comments.
Last week I attended a ceremony honoring the Vietnam Veterans. These men were basically ignored when they came home. I heard of one group that was taken on to a base in Washington in the dead of night and given civilian clothes to wear before being released at random so no one would spit on them, or worse. It is only through recognizing our history that we now honor these men and women for their sacrifices….now, when they are in their 60s and 70s.
We may not agree with all of the times our military is sent to war, but these men and women are always willing to help others and protect Americans from whatever comes our way. I don’t think any of us want to be telling our grandchildren how we were once free or how we lived by the words in the Constitution of the United States.
Although we may think that we are only one insignificant person, but take a gathering of all the people who believe in freedom and we can accomplish a great deal; we can preserve our freedoms. Let’s not send our freedom into extinction.
